Vinícius Gomes – Guitarist | Composer
Vinícius Gomes is a São Paulo-born, New York-based guitarist and composer whose music bridges the worlds of modern jazz and Brazilian tradition. His work captures the lyrical richness of Brazilian rhythms and melodies, interwoven with the improvisational language of contemporary jazz.
His discography includes his acclaimed debut album Resiliência (2017, Blackstream), Changes (2020, FreshSound) in collaboration with Spanish saxophonist Santi de la Rubia featuring Jorge Rossy and Doug Weiss, and his latest release HOME (2022, Greenleaf), a duo project with Korean vocalist and composer Song Yi Jeon.
Vinícius has collaborated with a diverse range of artists across cultures and genres, including Magos Herrera (on her album Aire, National Sawdust Tracks), Grammy®-winning drummer Edu Ribeiro (News), Duduka da Fonseca (Quarteto Universal, Sunnyside), Guillermo Klein, Jon Cowherd, Seamus Blake, Melvis Santa, and Brazilian accordionist Toninho Ferragutti, with whom he recorded two albums including the Brazilian Music Award-winning A Gata Café. He has also served as guitarist and music director for Brazilian vocal legend Zizi Possi, and performed with leading orchestras such as the São Paulo State Symphony (OSESP) and the Orlando Symphony.
Vinícius is featured on over 30 albums as a collaborator, and his most recent duo project HOME with Song Yi Jeon was met with widespread critical acclaim. It received 4.5 stars from DownBeat magazine, which praised the album as “a near perfect example of a duet project,” and was named Jazz Album of the Year (2022) by Star Revue Magazine.
A former participant in the prestigious Focus Year Program in Basel, Switzerland, Vinícius had the opportunity to study and perform with artists such as Ambrose Akinmusire, Billy Childs, Dave Liebman, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Julian Lage, Norma Winstone, John Hollenbeck, and Jim Black. With the Focus Year Band, he received the 2019 Keep An Eye Award in Amsterdam.
He holds a Master’s degree in Music from the University of São Paulo (2012) and an Artist Diploma from New York University (2020).
Vinícius has performed extensively around the world, appearing at major festivals including Carnegie Hall Citywide, Newport Jazz, Winter Jazz Fest (NY), Jarasum Fest (Korea), Vienna Jazz Festival, Riviera Maya Jazz Festival (Mexico), Jazz Aspen Snowmass, Savassi Jazz Festival (Brazil), Ilhabela in Jazz (Brazil), and Buenos Aires Jazz Festival (Argentina).
His performances have taken him to leading venues such as Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Smalls, The Jazz Gallery, Blue Note (NYC), National Sawdust, Bimhuis (Amsterdam), Duc des Lombards & Sunset Sunside (Paris), Porgy & Bess (Vienna), JazzStation (Brussels), Bird’s Eye (Basel), and many more across over 20 countries in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
Song Yi Jeon – Vocalist | Composer
South Korean vocalist and composer Song Yi Jeon fuses modern jazz harmony, intricate rhythms, and lyrical melodies into a sound that is both sophisticated and deeply expressive. Classically trained in composition in Graz, Austria, and later earning jazz degrees from Basel (Switzerland) and Berklee College of Music (USA), her background informs her uniquely structured yet emotionally resonant improvisations.
A recipient of the Quincy Jones CJ&E Fellowship and the Billboard Endowed Scholarship at Berklee, she released her debut album Movement of Lives in 2018, followed by HOME (2022, Greenleaf Music), a critically acclaimed duo album with guitarist Vinícius Gomes, earning 4.5 stars from DownBeat.
Jeon has performed at renowned venues and festivals, including Blue Note NY, the Jazz Gallery, Bimhuis, Moods Zurich, Bird’s Eye Basel, and the Jarasum Jazz Festival, and has collaborated with artists such as Guillermo Klein, Jeff Ballard, Bill McHenry, Ambrose Akinmusire, and Wolfgang Muthspiel. She was selected for the prestigious Rolex Mentor & Protégé Arts Initiative (2023–24) to work alongside five-time Grammy winner Dianne Reeves.
